A large percentage of deadly road accidents are caused by drowsy drivers, research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety revealed.
According to the research, 21 percent of fatal vehicular crashes were caused by sleepy drivers. AAA’s research reportedly confirmed the commonness of drowsy driving is far greater than data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) suggests. The research also stated that aside from injuries, at least one death occurred for every 6,000 road crashes every year that involved a fatigued driver. The foundation recommended that drivers drive carefully, especially now that daylight savings time has begun, and remain alert for signs of drowsy drivers.
