Airbag Manufacturer Takata Issues Largest Auto Recall in U.S. History

Airbag Manufacturer Takata Issues Largest Auto Recall in U.S. History

On May 19, 2015 Japanese automobile safety manufacturing company issued a massive recall on over 34 million cars. The cars were recalled because of a faulty airbag that once deployed can explode spraying shrapnel throughout the car during a crash. Thus far, it is reportedly believed that six deaths have been caused as a result of this auto defect.

The company has had safety problems with airbags for years, and this latest recall makes it the largest ever in U.S. history. Takata installs airbags in many major car manufacturers. The largest automakers who have used Takata airbags include, General Motors, Volkswagen, and Honda.

This recall is an example that auto defects can affect anyone. If you or a loved one has been injured by a Takata airbag or similar airbag product, then contact the Goings Law Firm, LLC today. Although most auto accidents in Columbia are the result of driver error, a substantial portion are caused by defective vehicle equipment or design. 228K Jeep vehicles with airbag issue recalled in the US

American automaker Chrysler has issued a recall of 228,181 Jeep Cherokees to fix the side airbags that may unexpectedly deploy, The Detroit News reported on February 2.

Reports said the side airbags of the affected Jeep SUVs may suddenly launch unintentionally when drivers operate the vehicles in “extreme maneuvers.” Chrysler explained in such extreme situations the sensors may activate the side airbags to protect drivers from possible rollover accidents. To address the problem, dealers will conduct a software update to the recalled Jeeps. Chrysler stated they have not received reports of accidents or injuries involving the affected vehicles, which are also distributed in other countries.

Though no one was reportedly hurt before the recall, the Columbia defective vehicle lawyers of the Goings Law Firm, LLC, know that many people are severely injured in accidents after using vehicles with faulty safety features. If you have experienced this, we may help you pursue remunerations for your fast recovery. Discuss your situation with us today at (803) 350-9230 to learn about your legal options.

New Nissan SUVs with steering problem recalled

Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Nissan for more information or visit a dealership to have the vehicles’ steering column checked.
