Jeep that fatally struck Anton Yelchin is part of a safety recall

A report from CNN on June 20 revealed that the Jeep SUV that killed actor Anton Yelchin in Los Angeles is one of the 1.1 million vehicles being recalled by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

In April, FCA issued a recall on their vehicles to fix an issue that caused drivers to assume the vehicle was in the park position when it was actually in reverse. Preliminary investigations by the LAPD revealed the 27-year-old “Star Trek” star was killed after he was pinned to a post by his vehicle when it rolled out of place. FCA said that they will also conduct their own investigations regarding the actor’s death to determine if the death was caused by a problem in the gear selector. Federal authorities reported the auto defect is being linked to 177 accidents resulting in injuries.

The wrongful death lawyers at Goings Law Firm, LLC extend their thoughts and condolences to the family and friends who are mourning the loss of their loved one.
