This is probably the question we get the most when sitting down with new clients. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to a personal injury or catastrophic injury case, including when the case may settle. One of the biggest unknowns is what kind of future medical treatment our client is about to undergo. Usually, it is best practice to make sure we have at least a general understanding of not only what our client has gone through, but what they will be going through before even entering settlement negotiations. Another factor is what kind of insurance or money is available to be collected for our clients. For every case, though, it’s important that your attorney does not settle without one, discussing the offer with his or her client, and two, squeezing every single penny they can for their client.
