Your First Consultation With a Lawyer: What to Expect at Goings Law Firm, LLC

Video Transcript

If you’re wondering what to expect from your first consultation with a lawyer, I think it’s important to know how that meeting should actually feel. At some law firms, the first consultation isn’t even with a lawyer at all. You may be routed through an intake team, or an intake coordinator, or a case manager before ever speaking with an attorney. If you even get a chance to talk to a real lawyer at all, this is not how we do things. At Goings Law Firm, however, from the very beginning, you’ll meet directly with a real, experienced trial lawyer who can listen to your story, ask the right questions, and give you meaningful legal guidance right away.

That first meeting is really a conversation. We want to understand what happened, how you were injured, what treatment you’ve received so far, and what concerns you have moving forward. We’ll also explain your options and answer all of your questions and help you understand what the road ahead may look like without pressure or obligation. It’s helpful to bring any documentation you already have, including your driver’s license and health insurance cards, medical records or bills, and any paperwork related to the incident itself, like a collision report or an FR 10, if you’ve been in a car wreck. But if you don’t have everything, that’s okay. We can help gather what’s needed.

The goal of that first consultation is simple: clarity. You should leave feeling informed, respected, and confident about your next steps.
