Why Attorneys Refer Workers’ Comp Claims to Goings Law Firm
Workers’ compensation is different—and we treat it that way
Workers’ comp isn’t just a form-driven process. Strong outcomes come from timing, medical proof, credibility, and a plan for what happens when the carrier pushes back.
We protect your name and your client relationship
You’ll never be left wondering what’s happening. We provide meaningful updates at key stages (intake → medical posture → dispute posture → mediation/hearing posture → resolution), and we work in a way that reflects well on you.
We are built to litigate disputed claims
Insurance companies respond differently when they know the file is being prepared properly for a hearing—not just a quick settlement ask. We work cases up to win.
Statewide reach across South Carolina
Whether your client is local or several counties away, we make intake and ongoing communication easy.

Referral or Co-Counsel: You Choose the Model
We strive to work with you and the client on model that is in the best interest of each client you sent to us.
Option A: Straight Referral
You refer the client to us, we take the lead, and you receive an agreed referral fee consistent with professional rules and the arrangement approved by the client. The extent of your involvement and interaction with the client can be personalized based on preferences.
Option B: Co-Counsel
We partner with you. You can remain involved as much—or as little—as you’d like, and we divide responsibilities in a way that serves the client and makes sense for the case. We’re flexible, and we’ll propose a structure that matches your preference and the needs of the case.
Ethical Fee Handling
We handle referral fees and co-counsel arrangements with licensed attorneys in a manner consistent with South Carolina’s Rules of Professional Conduct, including:
- Client informed consent (confirmed in writing)
- A written agreement describing the arrangement
- A total fee that is reasonable
- Division of fees consistent with the services performed and/or joint responsibility assumed
How to Refer a Case (Simple Process)
Step 1: Send what you have
Even minimal info is fine. Helpful items include:
- date of injury + employer + carrier/TPA (if known)
- claim status (accepted/denied/unknown)
- current medical status (treatment, work restrictions, MMI/ratings if applicable)
- any deadlines, mediation dates, hearing dates
- adjuster/NCM contact info (if available)
Step 2: We run conflicts and complete intake
We’ll quickly confirm conflicts, schedule intake, and make sure the client understands the process. We will schedule an in person or virtual meeting with you and your client, or if desire, we will schedule a meeting with the client at your direction.
Step 3: You receive confirmation + written paperwork
You’ll receive confirmation of next steps, plus a written referral/co-counsel agreement as appropriate.
Attorney Referral Form
Important: Please do not submit privileged/confidential documents until conflicts are cleared. Submission of this form does not create an attorney-client relationship.
