Bus driver involved in deadly crash has history of traffic violations

On October 6th, The Herald reported updates to a bus crash that occurred in South Carolina last month. The bus driver, who caused four fatalities, had several traffic violations on his record.

On September 17th, Brian Andre Kirkpatrick (43) was driving a school bus that was occupied by the Rock Hill football team when the tire of the bus burst. Kirkpatrick and three of his passengers, including an 8-year-old boy, were killed in the accident that ensued. Kirkpatrick was convicted of speeding and being involved in an accident between 2011 and 2012, according to the DMV. Survivors of the crash are suing Sandy River Baptist Church and other negligent parties that did not adequately maintain the bus.
